we are

Empower House (formerly Martinez Street Women’s Center) was founded in 1999 with a mission to improve reproductive health services and access for women — primarily brown and Black women — in East Side San Antonio, a historically disenfranchised area that suffered from numbers compared to the local and national average.

Our Programs

Our programs are rooted in restorative justice principles, developmental relationships, and feminist, womanist, and mujerista theory.

Empower Youth After- School Program

Our Empower Youth Development Program is NOW open for all our after-school programming and services from 3 pm – 7 pm, Monday through Friday, @ Lockwood Park!
